Mindset , besides sponsoring Comp 15, are getting into the idea of game development and like the results that Game.Dev has been getting by lobbing Game Maker at kids and seeing what comes out. Not only do kids learn the basics of OO programming, they also get inspired to be creative and solve problems. With this in mind, Mindset is using it's datacast service (which sends learning material to schools all over the country) to send out Game Maker and its tutorials. They're also going to start sending out Game.Dev's community-run e-zine, Dev.Mag as well. I'm sure that's great news for the Dev.Mag team, who've stuck by their guns for just over a year now and regularly produce an awesome read. |

That's right, Mindset Learn has graciously agreed to provide R10 000 in prizemoney for Game.Dev Competition 15. The competition will start on the 1st of June 2007 and, like our previous big-money competition (Comp 10), will run for two months. As usual we'll release the final brief and topic on the day the competition starts... Prizes will be the usual spread: - R5000 for 1st place,
- R2500 for 2nd,
- R1500 for 3rd and
- R1000 for best new entrant, to encourage new developers to get involved.
We're going to be pushing this competition hard, so be sure to let your friends know all about it. Remember, Game.Dev is all about getting new people involved. To help with that, we'll be posting all of the Game.Dev articles that have appeared in NAG over the years, two each week until we've caught up. Oh yeah, welcome to the all new Game.Dev website too ;) |
